Exercise Programs With Goals Rock!
Set Goals And Succeed With Exercise
Your Goals Should Be Achievable
Looking at exercise programs, keep in mind that intermediate goals will help keep you on track.
Now that you’ve got a plan to start exercising, Great!
But don’t doom your brand new program to failure. Lots of people start out whole-hog and become discouraged.
The reason? They set the bar too high.
It’s easy to get ramped up and overdo it only to wake up too sore to move the next day.
There are ways to avoid common pitfalls in any program, and succeed in making it a lifelong habit, one that strengthens your heart and increases your overall health.
Your Short Term Goals
• Start slow.
• Begin with 15 minute sessions every other day.
• Increase by 5 minutes a week until you have reached 30-40 minutes every day.
Fit Exercise Into Your Schedule
• Find an activity or two that you love and stick with it.
• Exercise at the same time each day. Put it in your schedule like any other appointment you have. Go to exercise classes if you like, but if you miss a class, it’s no an excuse to not exercise. Get out and walk to make up for it.
• Plan ahead for bad weather if you exercise outdoors. Have an indoor plan.
Write Down Your Exercise Goals
Keep a log of your exercises and goals. Record how long, what type of exercise, heart rate, and any other comments. This not only helps you when you start an exercise program but helps you to see how far you’ve come.
After a few months, your exercise routine will become part of your daily routine. If you slip up and miss some days, start over again at a reduced level and work your way back up.
It’s OK to backslide, everybody does it. But get right back up on that horse and recommit to your exercise. Your heart will thank you!
Last But Not Least, Make Exercise Fun!
There are several music websites that offer exercise or beat music in MP3 form you can use to work out. Here are some links:
