Cardiac Rehab Exercises
The Safe Way

A Few Precautions Will Keep You
Safe When Exercising

A few simple precautions during cardiac rehab exercises will pay off in the long run.

• If you develop a cold, fever, or just feel unwell, don’t exercise. Wait a few days until you feel better to begin your exercise program. Start off slow after a few days of inactivity to lessen the load on your heart.

• If you feel palpitations or an irregular heartbeat, stop exercising at once. Check your pulse after 15 minutes of rest. If your heart rate is above 100, call your physician.

• Joint or muscular pain anywhere in the body. Stop! Exercising while in pain can cause more damage.

Rest And Call The Doctor
If You Develop The Following:

• Feeling weak

• If you become short of breath or feel worn out, stop exercising. Let your doctor know.

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Unexplained weight gain or swelling: Call your doctor immediately.

• Pressure or pain in chest, neck, arm, jaw or shoulder.

• Any other symptoms that concern you.

Listen to your body! Stay safe and call your doctor with any concerns.
